The Maiden's Sleep by Michael J. Stiehl

adventurous dark mysterious

5.0

Great read! At first I was struggling to get into the story, but soon became engrossed, everything was just so interesting, this author has a fascinating and creative mind. Maiden’s Sleep, was a plague that swept through their town and killed many, including Bow’s daughter. I don’t get why Bow thought it was Freneck’s fault his daughter didn’t survive, maybe because he is the town’s alchemist and should have been able to save her? When Bow is approached by 2 children needing help finding their father, we are lead on a fantastical and horror filled adventure. Bow and Freneck uncover a shack where the children’s father lives, along with something they were not expecting. Investigating further, they both realize everyone is not who they say they are. By the end I was left speechless for a bit, I had to soak in all I read. The descriptions of Ozker, his shack and what he was looking for in all the women found dead was just so well done, very detailed. I don’t have enough words to praise this book. I would love to read more about Bow, Freneck and their little town of Dunwynn.
