Miles better than RR. It might just be that the plot itself is more appealing to me than the Hunger Games but with Spoiled Rich Kids and sexual assault. I still find it overwhelmingly masculine. The female characters at least aren't fridged or
raped
in this book. They aren't awesome, either; they tend to be either sexless or extremely sexualized, which is weird. But hey, it's scifi written by a man, what do I really expect? That being said, Viktra is probably my favorite and she's definitely the horniest. And I'm glad I decided to give the second book a chance despite kind of hating the first one. It's got good bones, you know? I guess Brown just went to a Carver to add density to them to make this book a Gold compared to the first.
