This is a novelization of motherhood by Bunmi Laditan (the mind behind the brilliant @honesttoddler ) that I found entirely relatable, as though she’d been eavesdropping in my own mind. Ashley is every hot mess mom trying to do it right and feeling like a failure at every turn. Laditan captured what it’s like in the brain of a mom. The storyline though, was a little forced. Ashley gets accepted to be in a boot camp put on by a celebrity blogger and I feel like that’s a pretty unrealistic plot device. She could have easily had these same adventures, experiences and failures without the reality show angle. In all, I’d say 3.5/5 stars because there are funny, heartwarming and truthful moments. I think if you’re not a mom, or maybe one of those totally together moms, there wouldn’t be much for you to enjoy. For me though, I spent the first 100 pages nodding in agreement and wondering how Laditan was listening to my thoughts.
