We are who we are whether we like it or not.”
In Pieces is a beautiful story of young and first love. In Pieces follows the story of Kinsley and Rhett. Nothing has been the same for Kinsley since her mom past away. When her mom died, her father couldn’t handle his grief and left Kinsley in the care of her older sister. Things have been hard for Kinsley. Not only is she trying to finish her senior year of high school, but she’s also working hard to help her sister pay the bills. What Kinsley wasn’t planning on was Rhett. Rhett is the popular boy who has everything. Kensley is surprised when Rhett takes an interest in her. She is oblivious to what everyone else sees in her. Rhett slowly breaks her down and convinces her to take a chance on him. As time goes by, Rhett and Kinsley fall into a seemingly easy and beautiful relationship. However, these two young people will learn very quickly how things can change in an instant. In the end, the question will be, “Is there love strong enough to endure what life has decided to throw at them?”
In Pieces reminded me so much of what it was like to be young and in love. I would probably consider this story to be YA or Mature YA. It does deal with some tough issues, so it could almost be at the M-YA/NA line. In Pieces pulled me in from the very first page. From the moment I met both Rhett and Kinsley, I wanted to know more about them. I thought that the two of them had really great chemistry and enjoyed their almost-insta love connection. The two of them were really cute together and I loved how Rhett treated Kinsley. Rhett was totally swoon worthy. He always left me with a smile on my face and I could tell that his feelings for Kinsley were genuine.
In Pieces is a great coming of age story. It’s about finding yourself and discovering the power of that first great love. It’s also a story about hope and the strength to get through even the toughest of situations. This story had real characters with real issues and those issues were dealt with in a very respectful way.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. The romance was sweet. The story-line was fun and refreshing. I loved the angst and drama. And at the end, I was left with a big smile on my face!
