Andreus has been crowned King of Eden after successfully surviving the Trials and now must learn to navigate court politics as King. Carys, presumed dead, struggles to deal with her new found power as she makes her way home to save her brother and her kingdom.
I did not enjoy the first book, to say the least. The only reason why I read this sequel was because the story had some promise and I wanted to see if the author would improve and start taking the story more seriously. I was wrong.
The author seems determined to tell and not show everything. You are repeatedly beaten over the head with information that has been poorly given out by bad character exposition. None of the characters behave like humans, no one has consistently morals, and did I mention the excessive exposition explaining everything that has happened over and over?
