i actually enjoyed this debut from start to finish, but the story and characters lack development.
the power system read like a poor explanation every time. there wasn’t any depth to channeling each affinity, aside from what they can obviously do. if the story were to focus on the development of the lore, it would have been much better. also, the athatis wolves were mentioned once and then never again? which is disappointing because they’re literally on the cover. i was hoping to read more about them.
onto the romance, and attempted love triangle, will and aya had an abundance of miscommunication that was becoming unnecessary. i personally think their ultimate confession was rushed, their romance definitely fell through because the plot needed to go forward. speaking of plot, aidon was simply a solution to everything, a back up plan for when the story goes to shit. poor aidon lol.
