The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart

It was ok.

I wish it would’ve went into more detail about what experiences in his past led him to becoming a killer and enjoying it, other than daddy took him hunting. Which is irritating as the wife of a hunter and mother of 2 boys who will learn to hunt one day too. I felt like the only insight we got into his past was seeing his father “mercy kill” a doe he had hit with his truck. Which confuses me because that’s a good thing and it didn’t sound like he had “enjoyed” it in any kind of way. I feel like the author was just relying on the audience to equate hunting with killing and then think that it makes sense that he’d be ok with hunting and killing people in the same, if not worse, ways! But the author should take her own advice, “Make sure you stretch next time you make a leap like that!”

I think i saw somewhere that this is going to be a series, if it is i would definitely like to read the next and see if some of this is cleared up in the next and it did seem open for another.
