I'm so sorry that I didn't like this book as much as I was hoping I would. I started it in 2023, but had to put it aside because I couldn't get into it. Finally restarted it this year and actually finished it, but it didn't grip me at all. It was just fine?
I'm praying part of it is the Dutch translation, if I ever do end up picking up the next book it'll be in English. Thankfully at least the way class and community were described was interestingly done, but I'm noticing I need compelling characters to truly delve into a story. I usually love character driven stories, but I couldn't care less about Elena and Lila. The characters in this book gave the same vibes as Rooney's Conversations with Friends, but not in a good way. Still glad I read it, but I can't say I necessarily loved it.
