Close Your Eyes and Count to 10
by Lisa Unger
The premise is fantastic. But ultimately this book falls really flat for me. I enjoyed the audiobook enough as I was working, but it’s not something I would necessarily recommend.
The problems:
-Predictable. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be surprised by how the story goes, but I wasn’t surprised by anything that happened.
-It felt like it was trying to say too much about everything. It was a thriller but it has a poignant thought on environmental issues, men, social media, etc. Not that these are bad things, but it felt like it was trying to say too much and it needed focus.
-I felt that the ending needed a better payoff.
-Also why all the changed names social media platforms? Just odd.
-Some of the slang was dated and should have just been omitted entirely if it was trying to take place in 2025.
