The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens

5.0

There's this habit in books depicting kids to sort of casually avoid certain topics. Which topics depends on what's already being addressed, like there's a limit on the number of "serious" subjects that can be tackled in a kid's book.

This book pulls no punches. Attachment, self-worth, responsibility, obedience, resentment - it's all there, and I think it makes a stronger story for all that.
10/10, will read again.
