cprince 's review for:
High Fidelity
by Nick Hornby
Years ago, after recounting a doomed effort to make a mix CD (not tape), a friend me to read this novel because it described how it's done. So I finally read it.
My general reaction is: eh. Or, in Brit-speak, "What a bunch of wankers." Unsympathetic characters, odd writing style (all those lists), and I really don't find the ending credible (really much more just a rush to a conclusion - which is perhaps in keeping with the novel and the characters).
I come from the side of the table that works on the axiom, "Know thyself." I find self-delusion and self-ignorance largely incomprehensible, certainly unsympathetic.
