Angel in a Devil's Arms by Julie Anne Long
3.5
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Loveable characters: Yes

(3.5 rounded up because I’m a sucker for sarcastic men and fierce women)

Another addictive romp from Julie Anne Long—she really knows how to dish out scandal, steam, and sharp-witted heroines who don’t take crap from anyone. The heroes? Grumpy, gentle, and emotionally constipated in the most lovable way. Yes please.

The found family vibes at the Grand Palace keep getting stronger, and honestly, I could read about these quirky misfits forever. Full applause there.

But not everything hit. The insta-lust? Meh. I need more than “you’re hot” to believe in the spark, and I never fully clicked with Angelique or Lucien. Plus, the revenge subplot fizzled faster than it should’ve—lots of buildup, not much bite.

That said, the brotherly goodness between Lucien and Robert? So cute. Tugged at my heartstrings in the best way. I’m hoping we get more of that dynamic going forward.

And yes, I’m sticking around until Delacorte finds a bride and rides off into his well-earned happily ever after.
