Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris

I am so disappointed.

I was never a Bill fan. So I was glad she didn’t end up with him. I’m not down for a Luke and Laura love your rapist thing. I was never a Eric fan. Everything with him is a chess game, you can’t have an HEA with someone who is literally plotting every move. Especially one that kept saying I will love you as much as I am capable. What does that even mean?

Alcide was self hating, but that was nothing a little therapy couldn’t have fixed. Quinn was my fav, Sookie annoyed me when she ended that relationship. So his sister was a hot mess, look at all the grief Jason caused her. If anything that should have made Sookie more sympathetic and bonded them together. But no she ends up with Sam. Sort of. She kept saying that she wanted to take it slow, but they had sex, more than once. So what does she mean by slow? They work together and see each other everyday. It just seemed like such an after thought. Like well she hooked up with everyone else, all that’s left is Sam might as well put them together. How romantic. Maybe she’ll still be with Sam by Christmas, maybe not. That is not a HEA, that is a booty call until someone better show’s up.

The plot was crap. The Devil never interacted with Sookie, and he was the catalyst for the book. Copely Caramichael wanting the cluviel dor was just random. He never believed anything his daughter said, or in her power, but when she says a friend has a magical wish granting compact he buys it?
Then is mad a Sookie for using it before he can get his hands on it, to the point that he becomes murderously vengeful? Even though the reason why he contacted the Devil worked out for him. And his bodyguard/chauffeur also wants to kill Sookie. Because he made a deal with a Devil, that had nothing at all to do with Sookie, and it turned out bad. Tyrese wanted a girl to love him, and Copley wanted his business back in power. The cluviel dor was a bonus favor to Copley. Tyrese showing up on Sookie’s door made no sense.

Don’t get me started on Fairy. That damn door was never closed, it was always open enough for someone to slide through. Even in the end. Claude “escaped” and then Niall sends her a letter in the garden? Just say that passage and communication between world’s would be limited. 13 books and a crap ending. Le sigh...
