Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster

*4.5 stars

I randomly found this book in a clearance section and thought the cover was cute. I had no idea what the book was really about but I figured I could give a short classic a go. And wow- I was surprised to find that I really, really liked this story! The story is told in letters from Judy, a young orphan who is given the chance to attend college by a wealthy beneficiary. In exchange, Judy must write monthly update letters to her donor (Daddy-Long-Legs as she calls him). Judy is a fun, silly, and all around delightful narrator and her letters actually had me laughing out loud at several points. The slice of life story she tells is warm and interesting and has plenty of relatable moments (even 100 years since it was initially published). The only reason this wasn't a full 5 star read for me was the ending- what I seriously hoped wouldn't happen, happened, and I wasn't really thrilled with it. But even still, I highly recommend this book!
