This was fine. It was very 2016 though. Both in good and bad was.
It felt very formulaic, very much point A which will lead to point B and point C. The names even show that. I mean in the fire people are named things like “blaze”, “ember”, and “flint”. And the water people are named things like “river”.
It felt like a lot of effort was put into the world building but not the interpersonal relationships. You’re told a lot how the characters feel about each other but you don’t get a sense of WHY. It feels so one dimensional sometimes honestly.
