The Return of the Honey Buzzard by Aimée de Jongh

4.0

Lovely graphic novel about a troubled man confronting his painful past. I enjoyed De Jongh's artwork and the way she tied in the honey buzzards to themes in the book. This book was rather "quietly" told and I enjoyed the lack of dialogue and the quiet images of nature. There are some serious adult themes in this book as well. I did feel the story went a bit fast and some things could have been expanded upon, particularly the main character's relationship with his father and how family pride motivates this character to fight for his family's business. This story is about new beginnings and personal demons and how we avoid and confront them.
