informative mysterious reflective slow-paced

maddy gifted me this a while ago with her annotations in it and it was a perfect companion for paris! i had a lot of fun (& frustration) deciphering sontag's arguments. reading notes on camp again for like the 4th time after reading it for us intellectual history was really fun - i think the pressure of class and of trying to distill her argument into something memorable distracted me from just enjoying her writing & really thinking through what she's saying. also led to awesome convos w/ maddy, my mom, etc... the second essay was less interesting/understandable to me but i want to keep re-reading it and also talk to maddy about it. then will get back to a judgment on it.
