(leaning over with my head between my knees) oh my god. Like, no, you really don't get it. I feel like I've been punched squarely in the chest, like I'm winded, I'm nauseous, I'm dizzy, I've been strangled, I've died, I've been revived. It's all about racial trauma and generational trauma, the wounds our parents inflict on us ESPECIALLY as Black americans, it's about looking at your father and realizing that he's just a boy, it's about looking at your mother and realizing she's just a girl, it's about blowing a horn to open heaven's gate but the horn not working so you scream a song instead.
