My lower rating of this book isn’t based on its quality, by any means—the plot is somehow intricate, emotional, tense, and lighthearted all at once. The unique narration and reflection by the main character hooked me from the very beginning, and the author’s talents held up until the very last page. I just had a very difficult time holding on to the plot throughout the book and all of its interconnected nooks and crannies. The author did an inctedible job tying every loose thread together with the conclusion, but the ongoing plot was definitely a challenge to follow.
Graphic: Child death, Infidelity, Suicide, Torture, Murder, Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Addiction, Gun violence, Infertility
Minor: Child abuse, Confinement, Drug abuse, Car accident
