There were too many twists and turns for my taste, some that felt confusing and unnecessary. The addition of Kit's dad in the final thirty pages was such an odd decision, especially his character's ending. There's a difference between "big twists" and just going to for shock factor.
The characters didn't have enough development except for Virginia, which goes to waste in the final few pages. What was the point of it all?
Don’t like gothic mansion settings, so drab. That's a personal taste issue.
