The dream sequence that opened up this volume was really interesting from an artistic standpoint, I could see how the authors were utilizing these scenes as a way to dive into Marcus's insecurities and psyche but the overall effect had poor pacing so it ended up feeling dull and boring. I liked how Maria and Marcus's return to the school created ripples among the different factions, and it was intriguing to see their group meld back into the social hierarchy of their class, as well as their conflicts with Shabnam and his group. It's a bit tiring to see Marcus outwit his classmates again and again, he's beginning to become predictable in his white male genius subversion, but I'm interested to see how the return of Saya shakes things up further in volume 9.
