Definitely a top five book. Dominicana is a portrait of the immigrant experience in America. The story follows Anna who leaves rural Dominica for New York with a man twice her age as the Dominican Republic falls into political turmoil. Cruz (author) explores themes of racism, abuse, loneliness, and friendship. Very thought provoking read.
