The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm
5.0
My video review with my 10 year old son. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcNXOQ675TY&list=UU8vMZYHrikPhZylBGDtvx-w&index=2
The Fourteenth Goldfish was such a brilliant read. It took me back to my middle school days and all the awkwardness that comes with that territory. I loved the science aspect and how it introduces middle school students to scientists such as Oppenheimer, Salk, Curie, Newton, etc... that the kids might not have ever heard of otherwise. At the same time as being hilarious and educational, the story also touches on the topic of aging and dealing with the circle of life. In my opinion, the author was able to do so in a tasteful manner that I don't feel will upset children. That is hard to do in middle grade writing! I have two sons. One is in the 5th grade and one is in 7th. I can not wait to share this book with them and their friends. I will definitely be recommending this to all my friends and of course the librarians at their schools.
I was allowed an early read of this book courtesy of NetGalley.
