I listen to country music, but I'm not good at remembering singers and song writers. I went into this book not knowing very much about the author. It was a really interesting read. She was very honest about her childhood, the evolution of her sexuality, and her dealings with addiction. In between chapters she would often sing-some songs that she had written others that were written by others that had meaning to her. I'm not sure if you would enjoy the audio without some enjoyment of country music but the story by itself was very interesting!
