The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter

3.0

This book like many other short story collections holds massive power and talent in its hands and shuns this by putting the worst/most boring stories at the end causing the excitement and thrill of the first few stories to fizzle into a smoking pit, no longer able to be revived into a fire.

The Bloody Chamber the story is amazing, a true favorite so it is devestating that the energy of that story is allowed to deflate so much through the presentation of the rest of the stories. A slow and practical build is always the best organization for a short story collection in my opinion.
