With the incredibly profound statement "I love Murderbot," Ann Leckie totally summed up my feelings for this novella.

It's not so surprising, since I'm beginning to realize that I am truly a sucker for AIs, but I LOVED this. Why are AIs so relatable? Is it the fact that I, too, feel like I am like every other human on the outside, but on the inside fundamentally alien and experiencing a different form of life?

Anyway, on the scale of AI characters Murderbot is more "human" than most, with lots of emotion and not being able to stop them from showing on his face. But he still makes you think about existence in a different way. His whole personality (socially anxious, lazy, funny, loyal, trying-too-hard-not-to-care) is so great and original, and his team of hapless, too-nice scientists are the best.

My only problem with this book was that it's TOO SHORT and now I need all the other ones!
