I was really vibing with the beginning. The thought of a 180% flip on our oppressive patriarchy was appealing. Sadly the exploration didn't go any farther than skin deep.
There is no nuance about how the behavior of women differs from men, they just do the exact same thing. And in the end, most of our main characters still get dominated by men in some way or punished for their domination. So a satisfying start just got uncomfortable and then annoying. Oppression is not made better by being enacted by the previously oppressed.
There is also basically no exploration of queer relationships or different gender identities which I found extremely disappointing. There were just a lot of plot holes in general.
High hopes for the first half, deeply disappointed by the second. Might just be the result of my expectations being disappointed. Nothing to complain about the writing quality itself.
