4.5 // i have covid rn so this won't be the best of reviews but i really really liked this. when i was younger i was very interested in books about cojoined twins but those didn't really scratch the interest that this perfectly fit as it explored the idea of what it means to choose to permanently attach yourself to someone. perhaps this is the most obvious metaphor but i really liked reading the social pressure towards conjoinment as the social pressure towards marriage and the idea of not only uniting your lives but physically joining them into one as a casual horror that is strange and dark to us as the reader but commonplace in the book. i wish we had got a little more fleshed out worldbuilding as that was what i was most interested in but i still think this was really good
