I watched the film before I read the manga and honestly I didn't get the hype at first. Yeah, I thought that the movie was pretty but it lacked something for me. It was not until I rewatched it that I finally understood the message and what the film was trying to show. I cried literally like a baby when I watched it again which is strange because I knew what was going to happen.
The scene when Shun realizes for the first time that he has wanted to love someone for so long and hold them in his arms is really heart-breaking. When it finally does happen, he almost doesn't really believe it. For me, its justified why he acted the way that he did in the beginning. He did not want to get his hopes up on someone who might not want him the way that he does.
It was beautiful! One of my favorite manga pieces.
