Zeus by Eden Finley

3.0

Hm, I don't really buy into the military guys story telling.
Eden Finley tells a solid story and I liked Zeus. Not so sure about Callie for quite some time.

But it didn't have the subtle feeling of real ex SEALs. Also the books in this series are - imho - too focused on the protagonists's (all of the Mike Bravo ops) sex life. Which they talk about a lot.
It may be that I'm just not too keyed into being a gay man - because I'm no gay guy. And the ones I know wouldn't talk to me like e.g. the gays on Fire Island (see movie) anyway.

The thriller element was not thrillery enough - I've recently read some samples of Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter Series. Similar romances with military and ex-military guys. Who don't seem to be fixated totally on getting off. I yet have to read more than a sample.

So... I'm undecided. It's not a bad book not at all. Zeus and Callie grew on me. The epilogue was a bit (quite a bit) too long, EF's books would often benefit from a more thorough editing of the talkative scenes imho. Therefore 3 stars.
A big plus: the cover is NOT cringeworthy as soooo often.
Far too often reading mm romances = reading in spite of the covers.
Here = Zeus on the cover made me interested in reading the book.
