Book 1 completed for the mini contemporaryathon!
This was a cute story and the little girl definitely had a sad background. But unfortunately it just didn’t live up to what I was hoping for. I really liked Jackie, the sister and of course, the dog was so cute, but beyond that, I couldn’t empathize with the rest of the characters. I felt like Charlie was a spoiled brat and a lot of her behavior was excused because of her situation. Nothing bad she ever did was challenged. Also... even though people live in the south, does not mean that they always eat grits and bacon and southern comfort foods. It was all so stereotypical
Overall it started off well, but these little things ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
