Laces and Lace by Toni Aleo

5.0

Earlier in the year, I bought Seduced by the Game. Proceeds from this anthology of eight hockey-centric novellas went to support the fight against cancer. Great cause, right? I mean seriously, there isn’t a person on this green earth who’s life hasn’t been touched by cancer in one way or another.

I read the Tangled in Laces novella and have been impatiently awaiting the rest of Lacey and Karson’s story. I was so excited for the release of Laces and Lace that I decided to reread the whole Assassins series in preparation. I was only at book 2 when Laces and Lace was released early, but I forged ahead and am so glad I reacquainted myself with the previous books and the awesome characters that are like a second family.

The continuation of Karson & Lacey’s story did not disappoint. As they bump into one another, the sparks fly just as brightly as they did in the Tangled in Laces (the prequel in included in Laces and Lace for anyone who didn’t buy the anthology, and you get to donate $1 to fight cancer for the Nashville Predators Foundation for Pediatric Cancer research). Win/Win in my opinion!

Their journey to their happily ever after is not an easy one. The odds are stacked against them with living in different cities, careers that take them away for lengthy amounts of time, and disapproving relatives. But you can feel their love at the turn of every page. They say it often, and really, who wouldn’t want to constantly remind their one true love of how much they are cared for, after a 9 year hiatus? They have such a connection. There is so much chemistry between these two, and even as the story progresses, the steaminess of their interactions does not dissipate at all.

Toni, you absolutely amaze me. I read about 300 books a year, and you are one of a few select group of authors where I one-click your next release without hesitation. Your name on a book is a guarantee that I’m going to be entertained for hours, embrace a new story, fall in love with the characters, accept their flaws, hope they overcome them and root for their HEA. I become totally immersed into their story, often times taking a break after each chapter in hopes of prolonging the adventure!

And if you still aren’t convinced that this is the story for you, there is a new leading man to keep an eye on: JT. OMG did I love his antics! I can’t wait to read his story!
