Classic satire, a great warm-up for Ovid! A little heavy-handed for the modern reader but with enough snark and a "chorus" represented through our cynical character Martin in the latter half of the novel to maintain the reader's interest through a wearyingly predictable slew of sometimes avoidable misfortunes. A welcome reminder nonetheless that we ought to "cultivate our garden," as it is our best chance at happiness and a "best world."
