This is how you write fantasy. HOLY WOW.
Firstly, this book deserves 6 stars. I feel at a loss of words for how well written and complex this book was.
This book read similarly to Throne of Glass in that it is brimming with tons of multi-layered characters, fantastical world building, mythology, magic, emotional trauma and adventure.
One of the most notable and personal favorite aspects of this book was its focus on Egyptian mythology. So many books these days take their inspiration directly from Norse and Greek mythology, and to be honest until now I haven't come across a book that focuses this deeply on Egyptian mythology instead - and done so brilliantly. And, even more unique was how the author beautifully and intricately weaves Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythologies into a beautifully complex tale that explores the rich and dark history of war between these empires in a whole new way.
This was one of the most unique and well written fantasy books I've had the honor of reading.
The Dark Knight Of Souls is honestly one of the most well written and researched books I've ever read, and it is officially on my list of favorite books EVER.
If you are a lover of ancient mythologies, revenge stories, retribution, kick-ass strong FMCs, shadow daddy MMCs, slow-burn romance, emotionally intelligent characters, found family, and books like Throne of Glass, then this book is 1000% for you. Go. Read it now. You won't regret it.
I can't wait for book 2!
