DRAGON LINGUISTICS!!! i never thought i would read a book that combines dragons and linguistics and i immediately need more

but more seriously, this novel makes amazing commentary on the use of language as a tool of oppression and a weapon of war. i would love to see more fiction novels tackle the use of linguistics and language within their universes, especially in fantasy.

the main character was aggravating at times, but it's clear that it's because she stuck to her morals and the way that she was raised. however, she seemed to go about a lot of the book with blinders on, and refused to see anything other than the morphemes on the page in front of her and the boy she likes. but she won't listen to anything that anyone tells her, which, while annoying, is SO accurate to seventeen-year-old girls that i really can't be mad at it.
