5 stars - I loved it!

It’s been a while since the events in the previous book. Mercy and Adam are preparing for their wedding but Mery’s mother is going overboard. In a rash move, they decide to elope. Adam and Mercy head out camping for their honeymoon but like usual, it doesn’t go as planned.

There was so much that happened in this book that I didn’t want to put it down. I love that we are finally seeing Mercy and Adam tie the knot. I loved their wedding and how unexpected it was. I loved how Adam picked the perfect honeymoon location for the two of them to have some time together. Like usual though, trouble follows Mercy and this time it was some escaped Fae and a Native American monster.

“I’d rather fight monsters with you than with anyone else I can think of.”

I love that we have a whole book focused on just Adam and Mercy. It was great seeing the strong love between these two and how strong their mating bond has grown. Adam continues to show how great of a partner he is to Mercy by proving he understands her need to help fight evil and that she doesn’t mean to attract trouble. Adam and Mercy are my absolute favorite couple and I can’t get enough of them.

While dealing with this native monster, Mercy gets to meet other walkers. The other walkers were quite fascinating and it makes me wonder how many other walkers are walking the world. She also gets to meet some of their creators, including Coyote. I loved that we are finally learning more about walkers and meeting other types. It was a great expansion on this world and on Mercy’s history. Also, Coyote is crazy and I can’t wait to learn more about him.

Mercy also learns more about her father and his history in this. I liked that she is finally learning something about her father and his death because it's always been a sore spot for her. It was a bit unexpected, but it explains a lot too. It was nice to see her learn more about her heritage and actually discuss her Native roots.

The monster in this one was fascinating and unique. I liked that this was not a monster ever really seen before and that it wasn’t just a Fae monster. There is some Fae interference in this one but the focus is mostly on this water monster. Mercy, as usual, steps up to help defeat this monster and it was a great battle. As you can imagine though, Mercy does end up with a lot of injuries, which kind of ruins the honeymoon. I really enjoyed how unique this battle was.

Overall, this was another amazing story. I loved all the Mercy and Adam time and really want more books with just them. I can’t wait to see what craziness she gets into next.

Trigger warnings: death (including children), violence, gore, physical injuries
