Fever Moon by Karen Marie Moning
3.0

Like 99.9% of people who purchased this, I am a complete addict of KMM's Fever series: the world, the characters, the story. Does Fever Moon scratch that itch? For a moment, and not with a lot of satisfaction.

First of all, the art is your standard Comics 101: sex kitteny women written for the male gaze, mega 'roided men with laughable physiques, and monsters who clearly had more love and affection poured into their creation than anything in the book that's human. It was impossible for me to get past that and diminished a bit of my love for Mac (who here contorts into impossible positions in order to lovingly feature her heaving bosom, glossy parted lips, and wide-eyed CFM gaze - ugh).

Related to the above, there are inconsistencies in this universe vs the books. I'd read them and have a "yeah right" snort...the one I'm remembering right now is Mac sleeping in a filmy/flimsy negligee on a couch in BB&B, which she wears to answer the door of the store in the middle of the night. Come on. Also, descriptions of V2 Barrons and the Hunters were seriously off.

There are a couple of genuinely great things. The writing, of course. Putting the writing to panels of illustrations made me smile...seeing scenes play out, how the players react, etc. Cute. And it was better than nothing. So.

Fever Moon: Better Than Nothing.
