Moribito II: Guardian of the Darkness by Nahoko Uehashi

5.0

The second Moribito book is just as good, if not better than, the first.

Uehashi’s worldbuilding is fantastically done as ever as we return with Balsa to her birthplace of Kanbal. I love finding out more details, more truth about her past, about her family... and the conspiracies that still hold to this day.

I was literally so emotionally caught up in this I definitely cursed out the villainous character a time or two, and got misty-eyed at the end, at the resolution. It delivers so well and so strongly I’m still so extremely upset the rest of the series never got an official English translation.

Please bring this back and translate the rest, I’ll devour them.
