Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath

4.0

Loved the MC to bits!!! The all universe and side characters are so well introduced and crafted that we want more of them and read the other books in the series.

Unfolding the hero personality and past as we read was a delight. A lot too unpacked. Maybe a bit too much and dark in the end. But it was a lovely unexpected surprised. I've got Kerrigan Byrne vibes. This his definitely a hero's (and his universe) book.

The heroin is less developed as a result, but I thought she was a good representation of her time, like Annabelle is in Secrets of a Summer Night by LK. She is a mother first and she'll do everything in her power for him. It's the first time that a 5 years old is portrayed so well. It was a delight to see his bond with Jack growing through the book. The kid was definitely the link that brought the MC together.

I haven't read much Heath's books but I definitely want to correct that, starting with the rest of this series. As it's all connected with her next ones (I've got MacLean and LK's vibes) I'm loving interconnected books that bring so much more depth to the universe the author is building.
