The End by Lemony Snicket

5.0

I grew up with this series, have read it so many times since I was 10, and yet every time I reach the last few chapters of The End, my chest feels heavy with bittersweet sorrow. That's how magical and timeless Handler/Snicket's writing is.
He literally answered 0 of the questions though, that jerk! I appreciate the mystery and all, but I wouldn't mind at least ONE of my questions answered: What in the world was The Great Unknown supposed to represent? A submarine? A metaphor for the cruelty of life? Or is it supposed to indicate how searching for answers to certain questions can be deadly?
Also I never thought I'd say this but Count Olaf's character really grew on me for some reason and now I WANT a Count Olaf backstory. Please.
