Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman by James Gleick

5.0

Reading both "Surely You're Joking Mr Feynman" and this book is illuminating for truly understanding Feynman's character. This was a much needed perspective I needed, particularly for the reservations I had for his sexist stories and language in the other book. Richard Feynman has a large ego, and is sometimes ignorant to the point of annoyance. Despite this, I still look up to him, his methods, his pragmatic attitude.

His experiences at Los Alamos and with his sweetheart Arline perforated my heart. A story that resonated both personally, and a drama that belongs in evocative fiction. James Gleick has superbly written an entertaining and informative biography, which gives the reader a wide view on Feynman, and 20th century physics.
