The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling
3.0
I picked this up because it was a classic, and I'm in a place currently of exploring classics I haven't read before. I imagined this to be some variation of the Disney's version of The Jungle Book. However, it turned out to actually be several short stories Kipling wrote about India during the time of English occupation (with one exception). They were mostly enjoyable, but a bit rambling. At times the pacing and flow didn't always work for me-- stories would shift back and forth in time, in a way that didn't really make sense to me. However, I have never read much Kipling, and overall it was a good read. Some of the stories (Rikki Tikki Tavi in particular) even brought back unexpected pleasant childhood memories.
