I haven’t been reading much fantasy lately and was itching to dive back in so I finallyyyyy picked this one up and wasn’t disappointed in the slightest!
Romeria is a thief in modern day NYC stealing for the mafia until all of a sudden she wakes up in a completely different world with a mysterious mission. Things get even weirder when everyone in this new world recognizes her as a princess betrothed to the enemies king.
This has:
+ marriage of convenience
+ kingdoms, politics, schemes
+ monsters and gods
+ enemies to lovers
It was so entertaining and I can see why people love it (it has a 4.13 rating on Goodreads which is quite good)! The world building was so well thought out and explained, even when it felt a little bit slow I felt engaged with the story.
I’m a sucker for an enemies to lovers plot so I completely ate up the way Romeria and Zander loathed each other to start! She was mostly confused which turned into anger, but Zander’s reason for the hatred? OOF. It was a pretty good reason (but I’m not telling!!).
The ending left me wanting to dive right into the next book! I’m giving this one 4 ⭐️ I’m so impressed that this is the same K.A. Tucker who wrote The Simple Wild series!
