Children of Fallen Gods by Carissa Broadbent

5.0

Children of Fallen Gods is the second book in the War of Lost Hearts series and takes off right where the first book ends. From beginning to end, it is brimming with plot twists, action, romance, war, and emotion filled drama. It's a multi-POV book focusing on Tisaanah, Max, and, a new character named, Aefe. Usually, the shift of POVs in each chapter would slow my reading pace, but each of the characters' story lines were all equally captivating that it was hard for me to put the book down. I love how Tisaanah and Max's relationship grew in this sequel. They truly understand each other and look to each other for support and strength. Each of their moments together were just heartwarming. I also immediately loved Aefe's character. I just couldn't help but root for her to succeed. Her journey was a page turner and I was blown away by how each storyline aligned at the end. It was very well done.

There's so much going on in this book - a lot of high stakes - but Carissa effortlessly weaves in the different narratives in a compelling way that kept me wanting more. I love how she develops not only the main characters but the side characters as well. Even the so-called "villains" are written with so much depth and complexity that it's hard to even call them that.

I'm currently in the middle of reading the last book in the trilogy and am loving it so far. I can't wait to read how their stories will come to a close.
