Oh my god, Louis. Shut up.
This is one of those books that I shelved when I first joined Goodreads. I originally rated it four stars (mostly out of nostalgia, I think) despite remembering being pretty 'meh' about it. I thought nostalgia might carry me through the reread.
Nope. Still meh.
Don't get me wrong, Anne Rice writes beautifully and it's nothing if not an interesting story. But goddamn it, Louis. Shut the fuck up.
He just goes on and on and on and on about how eeeeeviiiil he must be and how tortured his soul is and for fucks sake, I listened to HIM in high school and even back then I still wished Louis would just walk out into the sun and get it over with.
Advice if you're a new Rice reader: No matter what you thought of this book - I don't care if you'd rate it negative stars if you could - if you read the whole thing, start reading the Vampire Lestat. If you don't fall in love with Lestat, you have my personal blessing on ditching the series.
