The Takeover
by T.L. Swan
I wasn't sure I would like this one as much as the first. I started to read it, and I didn't love Claire. After getting to know Tristan a little in the first book, I had an idea of the type of person he should end up with. Claire didn't really fit the bill as a widow raising three boys, two of whom were teenagers. However, the more I read of this, the more I loved it. In fact, I'd say this book is way better than the first one. This story was laugh out loud funny in so many parts. Especially when Claire's three sons, dog, and cat enter the storyline full force. They definitely gave Tristan a run for his money. Tristan could be bossy and controlling and didn't take no for an answer when he wanted something. He was also a big sap and a total pushover for the woman he fell head over heels for, though. The fact that he willingly took on the challenge of getting to know Claire's boys and falling in love with them just as much as her was so great to see. He was completely out of his element and rose to the occasion in spectacular fashion. It was a refreshing change of pace to see a male lead choose a woman who wasn't picture perfect and was a little bit older than he was. The ending was perfect, too. I can only hope we hear a little more about how they're all doing in Books 3 and 4.
