The Shadow Wand

DID NOT FINISH
So I am rereading this series. This is one of my favorite books from the series. There is a bit of weirdness at the beginning where we jump around into seemingly every character every perspective that is really annoying but after that the book is really good. It was some GREAT character development for Lukas that I just love and I'm a big fan of developing the relationship between Elloren and Lukas.
One of my harshest critiques of this book would be that every character around Elloren continues to show a complete blatant disregard for her emotions and an inability to give her space for even a moment to process them. She has almost no agency in her life due to how she is connected to the prophecy and no one will give her any space to be upset about it ever. It's really really annoying. Like yes she is important and needs to get things done but damn give her a fucking second.
Additionally as more a critique of the series. I have read the book after this one. And something happens in the next book that basically makes ALL of the character development and relationship dynamics in this book just... not matter at all. Literally not even a little bit. So it's actually really hard to read knowing it doesn't fucking matter in the end. Again. I love this book and the arcs. But what's the point? I can't even enjoy my favorite book of this series because the next book just like throws it all in the fucking trash lol.
