I didn’t give this book a starred review because I don’t know how to star it just yet as I’m not a comic book reader. In fact, I learned how to read a comic book while reading this one. I read it through the first time and left not understanding much of what had occurred in the story. Then I went back and read it a second time and straightened timeline and characters out in my head. I also figured out the way certain speech features work in comic books and was able to re-conceptualize how some of the text was working. It was a really good learning experience for me. I am intrigued by the bigger conflict Black Panther is being set-up for in this book. I love the idea of the Dora Milaje. And, where Ta-Nehisi Coates goes creatively, I will follow. I look forward to continuing to read his Black Panther comics.
