I don't know how to put into words just how much I loved this book. So I'm just gonna have to say I loved it.

I picked this book up when I was going through a particularly difficult time and desperate from a distraction. I wasn't expecting too much from this book despite the hype because the premise seems exactly the kind of thing I hate. Maybe I'm slightly biased because this book carried me through a really bad time but maybe I'm not because there are a lot of other books that wouldn't have. Either way this book now holds a special place in my heart.

I guess I should get into some specifics about what this book did well; okay so first up the characters. Realistic, relatable, and just good. I was rooting for Alex and Henry and Alex/Henry from the start and really enjoyed everything about them and their relationship. Most of the supporting cast weren't as developed but the ones that were were easy to fall in love with. I'd say I want a sequel but this book is perfect as is.

I also loved the hopefulness of the politics. The politics were definitely something that put me off reading this novel at first but honestly I think they were really well done. This book made me feel hopeful in a way that I didn't expect and I think that's really important in the state our world is in right now.

I do recommend this book even if you're a bit iffy on the premise, it's beautiful and funny and so easy to fall in love with. That said, if you do decide to pick this book up please read the content warnings because I didn't and that was a mistake on my part.
