Ninth House

Ugh, two 5 star ratings back to back. Is that the type of year I'm going to have?! Oh, the horror.
I knew this was going to be an interesting read. I was skeptical! After Book Eaters teaching me that I really didn't like darker stories like I thought I did, I was afraid this was going to be the same deal. But nope! I was hooked fairly early on. I have a soft spot for magic and secret societies and dark academia, so I feel like I've done myself a huge disservice in waiting so long to get into it.
This was like a really dark and gritty murder mystery centered around a mature and realistic Hogwarts. I could get more detailed on that but don't want to give any spoilers. The last chapters really turned it up to 11 after being invested in the story, and the ending made me SO happy I waited because now I could jump into Hell Bent.
Something I NEVER do btw, as I always leave sequels for another time because I'm usually needing something new by the time I finish a book. Not this time! I'm jumping into it.
